Europe has already cut its energy bill by 29% but nobody talks about it. EU energy use in 2024: 854 Mtoe. Without efficiency gains since 2000 it would have been ~1,103 Mtoe. That's energy nobody had to generate, import or pay for. New policy brief 👇 janrosenow.com/uploads/4/7/1…

This is a brilliant investigation. It shows what many of us knew. Hostile states are supporting both Islamist & far right causes in order to divide us. If you are echoing those narratives you are aiding & abeting a hostile state. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8r2…

Rolls Royce SMR to built Sweden’s first new nuclear power plant in more than 40 years! Videberg Kraft, owned by Vattenfall and Industrikraft Sverige, has selected Rolls-Royce SMR as supplier for new nuclear power at the Värö Peninsula next to Ringhals. The project is planned to consist of three SMRs of 470 MW each (~1500 MW total), with expected annual production of around 12 TWh of fossil-free electricity. Following recent applications and project developments for new nuclear power across Sweden, the selection is another sign that Sweden is moving ahead with new clean firm power to support electrification, industry and security of supply. Rolls-Royce SMR has also been selected by Great British Energy - Nuclear for the UK’s first SMRs, and has signed a contract with ČEZ group to start work on the Czech Republic’s first SMR programme. Congratulations to Rolls-Royce SMR and Videberg Kraft on this milestone.

Näin. Aikoinaan jokin nettikauppa teki sivuillaan gallupin käyttävätkö ihmiset nettiä ostospaikkana. Tosi moni käytti.

HS haastatteli mäen päällä pyöräilijöitä. He olivat yllättäen kaikki päässeet mäen ylös. Pitäisikö minun tarjoutua pitämään HS toimittajille lyhyt luento tilastollisen päättelyn sudenkuopista? (2/2)

10 years ago my wife, the mum of our kids & the MP for Batley&Spen was killed by a far right extremist. At anniversaries I try to be optimistic about the future. But not this time. In the ten years since she was killed we have gone backwards & I fear our democracy is now at risk

the world needs the strait of hormuz reopened. should have happened months ago, but today’s outcome is the best option available. having said that, iran war has been a disaster. no agreement on nukes, ballistic missiles, support for proxies…and one of the world’s most brutal regimes remains in place…and is getting paid off. biggest foreign policy failure of trump administration by a long margin.

Right now, as Russians continue to strike #Kyiv with over a dozen of ballistic missiles, the Dormition Cathedral of Kyiv‑Pechersk Lavra — a UNESCO World Heritage site and priceless cultural landmark — has been struck and is burning. A brutal assault on our people and our heritage. This is the true face of Russia’s Orthodox values.

🚨🗣️New: Thierry Henry reacts to the Brazil, Morocco, and Netherlands press conferences, where questions in Spanish were reportedly not permitted for Hakimi, Vinícius Jr., and Frenkie de Jong: “I have covered World Cups for years, and this situation makes absolutely no sense to me. You’re telling me a World Cup co-hosted by Mexico can stop journalists from asking questions in Spanish? That’s like hosting a Formula 1 race and banning cars from using their engines. We saw it with Hakimi. We saw it with Vinícius. Now we’re hearing similar stories involving Frenkie de Jong. The players understood the questions. The journalists spoke one of the most widely spoken languages on the planet. Yet somehow the language became the problem. Gianni Infantino talks about inclusion, diversity, and bringing football to everyone. Fine. Then explain this contradiction. How can FIFA celebrate diversity in every promotional video and then create headlines because Spanish journalists are being told to switch languages at a tournament hosted by Mexico? Spanish isn’t some obscure dialect spoken by a handful of people. It’s the language of hundreds of millions across the Americas and beyond. If a journalist from Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, or anywhere else asks a question in Spanish and the player understands it, why is football creating barriers where none existed? The irony is unbelievable. FIFA keeps telling us football belongs to everyone, but this controversy has many fans asking whether some voices are more welcome than others. Maybe there’s a logistical explanation. Maybe it’s a translation issue. But perception matters. And right now the perception is terrible. Because what fans are seeing is simple: a World Cup hosted partly by a Spanish-speaking nation, players who understand Spanish, journalists who speak Spanish, and officials telling them not to use Spanish. If that’s progress, somebody needs to explain it better. Because from the outside, it looks like football’s governing body is tripping over its own message.” “FIFA wanted a celebration of diversity. Instead, they’ve handed the internet a controversy that won’t stop being discussed.”

Hegseth removed Chappie James's portrait from the Air Force Art Gallery and left the wall empty. James flew 179 combat missions across two wars. First Black four-star general in US military history. Curry passed that portrait every day for a decade. When it came down, he retired. The wall is still empty.
