2024-08-11: Pelita Air Service Airbus A320 landed on runway 27 at Bandara Sorong Airport(WASS), Papua, Indonesia when its jetwash peeled off large parts of the top asphalt layer forcing the airport to close for ~6,5 hours. No one aboard flight #PAS920 from Jakarta-CGK was hurt and the A320 remained undamaged. @GerryS

2024-08-11: Silk Way West Airlines Boeing 747-400F (4K-SW008, built 1999) experienced a high-speed take-off abort on runway 34L at Tokyo-Narita Intl AP(RJAA), Japan. Flight #AZG904 to Baku came to a stop on high-speed taxiway "A3" with multiple tires blown out due to excessive braking heat. The airport fire service dowsed the gear to reduce further damage. @FlyTeamNews

UPDATE #VoePass flight 2283: The total number of fatalities was 61. All 57 passengers and 4 crewmembers. Both black boxes have been recovered. There was severe icing in the area.

UPDATE #VoePass 2283: The number of casualties was adjusted again to 62 (58 passengers and 4 crew) after an additional passenger who wasn't on the manifest was found in the wreckage. There was a technical glitch in the check-in and boarding validation before departure.

2024-08-09: Voepass ATR-72 (PS-VPB, built 2010) was descending towards Sao Paulo when it entered a flap spin and lost altitude rapidly. Flight #2Z2283 from Cascavel to Sao Paulo-Guarulhos plummeted to the ground and impacted a residential area at #Vinhedo, approximately 65 km NW of Sao Paulo. Among the 58 passengers and 4 crewmembers were no survivors.
This crash marks the worst accident for Voepass, the 5th worst accident for an ATR aircraft, and the worst accident in Brazil since 2007. More to come...

Flight #PTB2283 impacted trees and a house in the Valinhos neighborhood, Vinhedo, NW of Sao Paulo. Fortunately, it appears no one on the ground was seriously injured. The wreckage caught fire and was eventually put out by the local fire service units.

2024-08-09: Delta Air Lines Boeing 767-300 (N182DN, built 1992) became stuck during taxiing in darkness after landing runway 36R at Charlotte-Intl AP(KCLT), NC. Flight #DL8860 from Providence turned right into taxiway "Mike" and into "Delta" which had a sharp angle when the right wheels became bogged in soft ground. All 188 on board deplaned via airstairs among them the Carolina Panthers football team.

2024-08-09: Renegade Air (on ops for UN WFP) DHC-8-300 (5Y-SMI, built 1995) suffered serious damage during an emergency landing at Malakal Airport(HSSM), South Sudan with about 30 people on board. None of whom was seriously hurt. Earlier, after take-off at Buny Airstrip both maingear wheels separated for unknown reasons and fell to the ground. @kenyanaviator
