🚨 Update: This is an objectively good move by City Committee to not let this BS stand and send it to the contest committee. I’m going to do the very dumb thingā„¢ and stick my neck out say this green shoots of a new leaf for Bob Brady and City Committee’s relationship with progressives and leftist challengers. For them, the writing’s on the wall: The same progressive wave that won Chris Rabb his Congressional seat absolutely carried through to Ward elections. The number of open wards continue to grow and if the 5th splits into A&B there can be even more. I think there’s a base understanding that the continued animosity between City Committee and progressives and leftists is unproductive and unsustainable if we’re going to turn out Philly in 2028. On Bob Brady: I’m glad he announced that he’s retiring after this term or sooner. Should it have been before now? Maybe… but dear reader, if think it was going to be anyone even a skosh left of center dem you’re absolutely kidding yourself. Brady recently said in an interview with @Laurenjmayk that he’s going to work with progressives and the evidence so far points to that fact. In the ward leader turnover fights that have transpired, I haven’t heard of any funny business outside of the Cindy Bass debacle, which can’t be attributed to Bob. In fact, I’ve heard city committee asked to provide Cindy for a lawyer to monitor that meeting and she turned it down. Look, I know for a fact that there’s whole lot of progressives and leftists that have considerable beef with Bob Brady and City Committee. I’ve written a whole ass op-Ed for the Inquirer and aired my own shit publicly. So for this *current iteration* of City Committee goes and what it becomes I’m going to trust, but verify. I’m ready for them to wow me with who they select for chairs and how they conduct business moving forward. Lastly, lemmie piss off everyone with this thread- upon reflection I think that TikTok stunt that Larry pulled outside of City Committee was strategically moronic. It actually killed any forward progress to finding a consensus replacement for Brady this term and only exacerbated the potential for a flame war. I think Larry sometimes needs enemies for relevancy and attention & it’s annoying. inquirer.com/politics/philad…

Com’on man, don’t you think you’re being a bit ungrateful? Sheriff Bilal just gave you this mascot and dance video for only $609,250.

It genuinely astounds me just how dogshit the cell service on the Amtrak northeast corridor can be. I should be getting 7G LTQ all the way from Philly to Boston: I don’t live in Kansas.

This is …. And I don’t say this lightly…. The single greatest piece of writing I have ever seen in my life The Japanese have discovered unlimited chips & salsa and it’s beautiful
USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving. Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free. I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these." "They just come with the table, man." They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner. This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat. I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared. "Did we…?" "Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless." Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined. My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude." Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man. I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy. Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived. I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most. Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.

Political dynasties are bad and shouldn’t be embraced by the right or left.
It is very important to me that Jack Schlossberg is so thoroughly humiliated in the NY-12 Democratic primary that he never runs for public office ever again.

ā€œFascist governments are never as powerful, competent, or efficient as they claim to beā€ has been a theme not just for Andor but a number of other Star Wars projects.
The reason Andor is aging poorly for me is because I realized the Empire is insanely incompetent in the show and it ruins the whole "actually evil serious threat" thing In the prison Cassian was through in there were a total of like 30 guards in the entire complex, which was a vital slave labor source for the most important industrial project the Empire was undertaking The Empire sent more soldiers to antagonize Ferrix during Aunt Petunia's funeral because they are mustache twirling saturday morning villains instead of a serious entity

A disgrace.
Hegseth removed Chappie James's portrait from the Air Force Art Gallery and left the wall empty. James flew 179 combat missions across two wars. First Black four-star general in US military history. Curry passed that portrait every day for a decade. When it came down, he retired. The wall is still empty.
