I made a shitty tweet earlier. I stand by our reporting, which reflects what we heard from a trusted source. But the way I framed the situation in a tweet was unhelpful, stupid, and only added noise to a situation where people are hurting. I sincerely apologize and will do better

Going dark for a bit. If you need me for work, other avenues are still open. I love and respect you all.

Round two with BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES and I’m honestly hard-pressed to think of a prequel that enriches an existing movie more.

Mike is an immensely talented writer and if you need a critic or some great Oscar coverage, you need to hit him up.

Every dork on the internet finds reasons to get mad at Rachel Zegler for largely stupid reasons, but she’s utterly phenomenal in the new HUNGER GAMES, so she gets the last laugh.

THANKSGIVING nails the slasher fundamentals without ever leaning on tired throwback nostalgia. It’s just a mean, hilarious, effective horror romp, powered by grisly kills while feeling thoroughly modern in its approach. Flabbergasted by how much I enjoyed it.

Annoyed that so many outlets are crediting Deadline when published well before them, but oh well. That’s the industry.

The extremely divergent takes on NAPOLEON promise a healthy and interesting discourse and I look forward to what folks have to say. I’m also convinced Ridley Scott pranked us with two cuts, and I’m jealous of the “funny version” some of my colleagues apparently saw.

Did not expect to enjoy the new HUNGER GAMES significantly more than NAPOLEON, but 2023 isn’t out of surprises.

I’m very curious if the four-hour cut of NAPOLEON fixes the disjointed, rushed, and underwhelming movie hitting theaters next week. An absolute bummer. (Hoping for a KINGDOM OF HEAVEN situation here.)

It is extremely funny that Ridley Scott heard about the most famous myth associated with this battle and said “Fuck it, that’s cool, it’s going in the movie” and then sprinted downhill with double middle fingers raised to every historian in existence.

Not a historian, just an avid history reader. Why I don’t care: 1. Napoleon’s military genius was staggering, but uncinematic. Logistics, corp organization, reading a landscape. You need *dynamite* to show a movie audience that this guy got shit done. 2. It’s cool.

Muting this thread because it’s ruining my life, but you should listen to @TrekkingTimePod. Also, yes, there was broken ice at the real battle. It happened when the enemy was already in full retreat and perhaps a couple dozen people drowned at most. It was not the core strategy

You can really feel the post-production flop sweat on THE MARVELS, a film built entirely on good intentions and lackluster execution. Not quite a LOVE AND THUNDER disaster, but a crushing disappointment. Iman Vellani crushes it, though.

Four years ago, I would literally plan my life around the latest MCU release. Genuinely bummed. I miss the feeling of excitement and community it fostered. Lots of fingers to point, but at the end of the day, I just hope folks can pull out of the swerve.
