Kia ora #dynamobim folk! This year at @autodesku '24 in #SanDiego we ran the @DynamoBIM Hackathon where 12 teams spent 6 hours hacking (Not long as far as Hacks go) on all things Dynamo, @AutodeskForma, @AutodeskRevit and @AutodeskCivil3D. This thread details what happened 🧵

I’ll give them this, it takes guts to post the following in a software support forum: “Hey, I stole your software by cracking it, and it isn’t working right. How do I fix it?”

I’m not going to presume to tell anyone who to vote for, that’s a personal - and very deliberately private - decision. Personally, I’m voting for Kamala Harris. Not because I agree with everything the Democratic Party does, but because she will take us closest to the kind of country I want to live in.

A certain plugin is now paid (congrats to them!) which used to be free, and I am already getting ‘could Dynamo replace…’. The answer: ‘Likely, but you will have to write some scripts or code to get all of the features you want., and it won’t be as fast as the add-in.’

I have been fortunate enough to play with this for awhile now. Looking back on ~11 years of Dynamo I think this might become the most transformative feature yet. So I encourage every author to go try it and let the team know if you: love it, hate it, tweak it, or break it.

I’ll be leaving soon after this happens, if not sooner. I don’t care who sees my posts, but some people want to keep toxic and abusive people away. Any social media platform which removes protections from those who need it is one I won’t participate in.

Best way I can describe the WPDrama in real world terms for the parents: Imagine that Apple accuses Netflix of trademark infringement because they used the apple logo on their site to promote the iOS application. Apple then cuts off Netflix from being able to make any updates in the iOS App Store. Apple says btw there’s a vulnerability in the application but now Netflix cannot update it because they’ve been locked out. Netflix makes a fix and tells as many customers as they can that they should download the update directly from them to fix it. Apple then takes over the Netflix application in iOS, slaps their own logo on it and call it Secflix. They do fix the security issues and an additional security issue they didn’t divulge because they wanted leverage. iOS users then caught in the hostile takeover have no idea that when they do their routine updates, that the Netflix app will change to Secflix. Again, this is all an analogy to what is happening right now in WordPress. How could anyone watching that say any of this is ethical or legal?
