LISTEN, what we aren’t gonna do is sit around waiting on some spouse that may never change in certain areas. Hey, I wish every couple would get on the same page, share the finances and work the Ramsey Plan. But that’s not always reality. Some spouses are slow to come around or may not ever come around. Many relationships have a level of dysfunction, areas that need improvement, or counseling, and the truth is some progress can take time. Or may never get exactly where we want it to be.    The other reality is that some of us are in relationships where we’ve just accepted certain things as they are, and have decided some battles won’t be won in the near term.  That being said- what we aren’t gonna do is sit around waiting on some spouse that may never change. If you want to go in the right direction with your money there is always something you can do to better your situation. Yes it will take longer, because you don’t have the help of your teammate but you can still put some points on the board. Continue to fight to win.

Feel like you’ve been climbing forever and still ain’t out of debt? Oh lawdd, I’ve been there. It’s exhausting. Emotional. Straight up unfair some days. But hear me: the time is gonna pass anyway. Two years from now, you’ll either say, “I’m so glad I pushed through,” or you’ll still be in the same spot or worse. That peace you want? That house? That freedom? It’s real. And it’s waiting on the other side of this grind. Keep climbing. Don’t tap out. That debt? It’s gonna be under your feet. And I can already see you standing on top of it.

I’ve been blessed to do work I love the vast majority of my working career and it’s gotten better and better and better over time. And I have a theory about this. When you’re under the gun, living paycheck to paycheck, stuck in a pile of debt— You feel you don’t have the luxury to even think about what it might be like to do what you actually love and are passionate about. Who has time to think about such things when you’re just trying to feed your family. Dreaming feels like luxury.  You take a job simply  because its the most pay you can get, not necessarily because it gives you the juice. But once that debt is gone, it’s like the scales come off of your eyes and you can finally see what it is you really want to do. You now  have in your possession something extremely valuable… It’s called options.

A baby is like this big 🤲🏽 I’m just being honest. 😂 You want what you want, that’s cool, but don’t say “the baby needs space” 🤣 say “Mama wants a bigger house” now we can talk for real.

You don’t have money if you owe money. $70K in savings – $70K in debt = $0. That stash ain’t wealth, it’s just a cushion for your denial. Keep $1K, throw the rest at your debt, and let’s get free for real.

Take a moment to dream. On this Ramsey Show call I was walking the caller through what their life would be like by Christmas if they chose to get intense. What would your life be like? 💡 If you paid off that student loan. 💡 If you added $1,000 extra dollars to your budget each month. 💡 If you have that conversation with your spouse. 💡 If you cut up your credit cards.   The time is going to pass anyway. Why not start TODAY?!

Life insurance isn’t a Baby Step. It’s something you get the moment you find out about it. If someone depends on your income (even a little) you need term life insurance. Not later. NOW.

Few will ever understand just how broke we were 🙇🏽‍♀️ I’m so glad those days are over- but when I talk tough to you guys, now you know its coming from a real place. The struggle SUCKS. I don’t want you going through it, and I’m gonna do everything in my power to help you get out and on the other side of it.

Struggling to make ends meet? Cover the Four Walls first: 1️⃣ Food 2️⃣ Utilities 3️⃣ Shelter 4️⃣ Transportation Pay these before credit cards, loans, or medical bills. Prioritize survival. You WILL get through this. 💪

Everything wants to be THE priority when you fall on hard times- But I’m here to remind you- you get to decide. Remembering your “4 walls” will help you keep your priorities straight- everything else can kick rocks, until you can get some more money coming in.

Cash is still king, but paying in cash didn’t hit the way I thought it would at the car lot.   I came in with a stack and these Jokers DID NOT CARE. They said “we make no money on cash deals anyway so you can walk as far as we care.”  Ok cool, then I will 🤷🏽‍♀️ my price is my price. And I’ll just go somewhere that can put some respect on these hard earned dollars!

I think we all grew up with “holes” in what we learned or didn’t learn about money. So as parents we have to be really careful and intentional about teaching the different facets of managing money.

IF your spouse goes 2015 Rihanna on you for some Chipotle? Talking about “pay me what you owe me, don’t act like you forgot” it’s a problem.
