The WA state School Superintendent is asking for $3 billion for K-12 education. On Day 1, my opponent wants to lock up 77,000 more acres of state trust land, a plan that would require the state to spend another $2 billion to replace the value of those lands.
In addition, this decision will cost schools, fire departments, EMS and hospitals $1.35 billion, which they rely on and which could make or break a hospital. It will also cut recreation, reduce wildfire capabilities, cost thousands of jobs, and destroy habitat. We should be using science-based management to protect the health of our forests and environment, rather than neglecting them and putting them at risk of catastrophic wildfires.
