The WA state School Superintendent is asking for $3 billion for K-12 education. On Day 1, my opponent wants to lock up 77,000 more acres of state trust land, a plan that would require the state to spend another $2 billion to replace the value of those lands. In addition, this decision will cost schools, fire departments, EMS and hospitals $1.35 billion, which they rely on and which could make or break a hospital. It will also cut recreation, reduce wildfire capabilities, cost thousands of jobs, and destroy habitat. We should be using science-based management to protect the health of our forests and environment, rather than neglecting them and putting them at risk of catastrophic wildfires.

I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Nation. One of our biggest accomplishments together was repealing a 184-year-old law preventing the manufacturing of some alcohol on Indian land.
