We always try to pick things from championship teams as trends for other teams and while this Knicks team was simply a team of destiny, I hope players taking pay cuts to help fill out a roster around them is the trend that comes out of this (it won’t be).

Lots of interesting Wolves stuff in this.
I’m more partial to selling at least parts of the farm for Giannis than most, but Jaden Naz TSJ 2 picks does seem like a little too much.
Interesting that they’re one of the named contenders for this deal, though.

I’m in favor of the risk it for a star approach, but here’s a build a better fitting team around Ant trade that’s kinda gross but makes me ponder:
MIN: Jerome, Beef Stew, Pick 14, Robinson, Mann, Williams

I think Ant’s playmaking would pop way more if you gave him lineups without 2 non-shooters, an iso-heavy second option, and a big who can’t catch, finish or pass out of the short roll. Not savant level playmaking, but SGA, Tatum etc level.

I also think this is way more likely/easy to do than finding the mystical traditional point guard that actually makes sense — in a league that doesn’t value them as much anymore.

The Wolves obviously still need guard help, but I think a combo-y type would work if you dismantled the front court and helped give Ant’s kickout/pick n pop/pocket pass game some actual finishing equity.

I expect the Wolves to trade pick 28 but breaking that into two 2nd rounders and taking a combination of De Larrea, Saunders, Conwell, Copeland, Thornton would be a good way to restock some of youth coffers for cheap.

Still, if you trade a FMVP for an energy vampire that you need to attach assets to get rid of, you inherently messed up badly regardless of Donte/Joan sweeteners

It’s not something that I’m overly flat about.
KAT has improved a ton with a better fitting team and better coaching and he deserves it, but we don’t have to pretend like the Wolves taking back Randle then re-signing him was good just because of the second apron restrictions.
