Cardiac anesthesiologist & intensivist, father, husband & veteran who cares and advocates for patients in an increasingly convoluted & opaque healthcare system.
this is great from that NP colonoscopy paper...NPs were just as good as fellows...except for 28% (413!) of 1443 colonoscopies that were deemed not screening exams. So NPs just as good 100% of the time, 78% of the time

FL SB894 - looking to expand PA supervision from 4:1 PA:Dr to 10:1 PA:Dr ratio. This is a backdoor to independent practice. Next year they’ll complain “we’re not supervised”. Not to mention Dr’s are liable for all actions of PA’s (nice touch there). #FlaPol#Sayfie
NPs in Texas can already work anywhere in the state to provide primary care. There are no “barriers”. But NPs don’t go rural anyway, and giving them independent practice won’t change that (look at every other state that has already done so). False arguments are being used here

State legislatures are now in session, and NPs are at it again in FL, MS, PA, UT, TN, TX, and WI.
What are YOU doing to bring focus and clarity to the debate?
The steady decline of inflated organized medicine. Follow the money. Lowering standards just to get more membership $$$. Also reinforces the complete absence of any desire to obtain “fellow” status while paying for it.
I was never a believer in the letters after “MD” on doctors’ signature line. What do they mean, really? Now, after seeing the ACC giving the “fellow” designation to non-MDs too, my skepticism is now officially justified. *sigh* Guess it’s #JustaClub@ACCinTouch
