There’s no doubting the affection for Andy on the doors in Makerfield. It’s energising. Nobody gets 💯 of course but that’s not really the point. His campaign, For Us, is really resonating and we had some excellent conversations again today with voters he’s reconnecting, about what matters most to them. Politics works best when it’s rooted in place and focused on everyday lives. As one of Andy’s letters says, we’re stronger together when we stick together, and this is especially resonant now.

Great to meet with the Chancellor @RachelReevesMP alongside @Eamonn_OB, Leader of Bury Council, to discuss our ambitions for Bury town centre and Bury North. We made the case for future growth funding and highlight the huge potential of our communities. Positive discussions about how we can unlock investment, support local jobs, and deliver opportunities for residents. Looking forward to continuing to work together to secure the investment our area deserves.

Our changes to the youth justice system will put public protection first. I spoke with @RSylvester1 about our transformative plans to prioritise early intervention, implement tougher requirements for offenders and responsible adults, and modernise our custody settings. The fact that c.2/3s of the 13,000 children sentenced each year go on to reoffend shows we are failing. 80% of adult persistent offenders first entered the justice system as children.
