Another shot from this morning's early dawn - a full hour before sunrise. This is the 459-foot Canadian freighter 'McKeil Spirit.' It was anchored up all night on the lake, before making it's delivery of powdered cement up the Genesee River this morning near Turning Point Park.
Lightning alert! I'm picking up strikes from roughly the Gates to Chili area right now, with a couple strikes at the Airport. Get your cameras ready! I'm hoping for some lightning tonight because trying to shoot lightning during daylight can be a PIA.
Good morning. The longest day of the year (summer solstice) is only 14 days away, marking the astronomical first day of summer. Gotta take advantage of every sunrise.
The view from my backyard. Sunset last night on the Beattie Beach in Greece, NY was the latest in a long string of stunning sunsets lately. Gotta take advantage of every single one. Summer is too short!
Late dusk overlooking Salmon Creek in Hilton last night taken from the parkway bridge. Nearly dark when I took this photo at 9:31 pm (sunset was at 8:42), a 10 sec. exposure provided an incredible amount of detail and color, much more than was visible with the human eye.
After the torrential rains... Rochester's High Falls and Middle Falls gushing with water as viewed from the Pont Du Rennes walk bridge and Driving Park Bridge at Lake Ave.
Brockport Yacht Club at Sandy Creek Harbor at sunset and Feather Merrow Beach at Hamlin Beach State Park with Devil's Nose in the background. (What? Feather Merrow Beach? I've never heard that name used, but according to Google it's a real thing. Has anyone else ever heard of it?
The 'Nose' was looking beautiful last night! Devils nose in Hamlin Beach State Park is a prominent glacial bluff. It's name came from the reef that extends out into the water, turning the area into a notorious "graveyard of ships" during early commercial sailing eras.
Crazy! Canadian city lights suddenly appeared over Lake Ontario last night due to a rare superior mirage - the same phenomenon responsible for the sinking of the Titanic #FataMorgana
