"We, the Black Students Coalition of Davidson College, feel that it is necessary to go beyond the realization that Black students are "here" at Davidson. We are a part of Davidson, an intrinsic part, and as such it is necessary for the College to realize its obligations to its Black members. By the very same token, we must realize our obligations to Davidson and make everyone aware of the positive contributions which we, as Black students, are and will be able to make-- not only to the College, but to the community at large and to the Black students whom we precede."
