After 21 incredible years at Oklahoma State University, I will be beginning a new chapter this fall as Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. I am deeply grateful to the students, colleagues, staff, alumni, and friends who have enriched my life and career far beyond what I deserve. While I am excited for what lies ahead, I will always carry a piece of OSU with me. Thank you, Cowboy family, for your friendship, support, and countless memories. Go Pokes and Go Big Red. #nebraska #huskers

Dennis Ritchie created C in the early 1970s without Google, Stack Overflow, GitHub, or any AI ( Claude, Cursor, Codex) assistant. - No VC funding. - No viral launch. - No TED talk. - Just two engineers at Bell Labs. A terminal. And a problem to solve. He built a language that fit in kilobytes. 50 years later, it runs everything. Linux kernel. Windows. macOS. Every iPhone. Every Android. NASA’s deep space probes. The International Space Station. > Python borrowed from it. > Java borrowed from it. > JavaScript borrowed from it. If you have ever written a single line of code in any language, you did it in Dennis Ritchie’s shadow. He died in 2011. The same week as Steve Jobs. Jobs got the front pages. Ritchie got silence. This Legend deserves to be celebrated.

Honored to be part of a Best Paper Award with an outstanding and amazing group of co-authors at DCAS 2026. I can’t claim any credit here—this was truly a team effort. My colleagues are truly amazing in what they do. dcas2026.com/index.html #VLSI #DCAS2026

– Created Linux that runs most of the internet. – Git didn’t exist, so he built Git in 10 days. – His code powers Android, servers, supercomputers. – Never built a company around it. - Just released it to the world for free.

There was some concern of getting things out of digital designs for the SSCS ChipAThon, so we updated our Drop-In-JTAG HDL open-source design : github.com/stineje/Drop-In-J…. We included a simple example showing how you can output items easily a nice FPGA compile for ArtyA7-100T. Enjoy! #JTAG

Regardless of what people believe about Steve Jobs, his companies definitely innovated and he got his staff to do great things! I certainly admire the products and innovation that were produced. I admire his vision and the passion he brought to creating products that inspired both engineers and users alike.
Today, we celebrate the birth of Steve Jobs (71 years old). Rest in peace 🕊️
