The Ship Tavern,5 Canute Road.
The South Western Hotel and the rear of Terminus Station are on the left. This pub dates back to the 1850s and closed down in 1933. The building is still standing and was being used as a restaurant.

#Southampton Back in 1912, when this photograph was taken, there were no fewer than six pubs all in a row on Albert Road. From left are the Alliance Inn, the Robert Burns Hotel, the Welsh Harp, Inkerman Tavern, the Calshot Castle, and the Queenβs.

First tried our luck in there in 1991, aged 17. It had just reopened after being refurbished. It was a good pub for a couple of years but I started using the Barleycorn by the time I was 21 and found my people.

The pub second to be built on the site, Demolished in 2010 and replaced by housing.

Great pub, especially back in the 90's. I spent so much time in there. Played for the football team, joined the golf society, played cricket married a barmaid. (no longer). Always someone organising trips away, home & abroad from there. Lock ins aplenty. Great days

Went in there a few times with my parents, it had a kids room. It was closed before I was old enough to drink in there.

#Southampton The Maypole, Hedge End was situated on Lower Northam Road. This pub was demolished in the late 1990s and replaced by care accommodation.

Absolute peak patriotism from Dillon Crawford, jailed for three years after attacking police in Southampton.
Nothing says defending the country quite like throwing metal items at officers, or his previous 33 offences, which include domestic violence and robbery.
