Elon Musk dismantled USAID programs that provided lifesaving assistance to millions of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people. The human cost was enormous, while DOGE’s net fiscal impact was inconsequential. Now, as Musk approaches trillionaire status, he should commit/tithe at least $100 billion to a fund dedicated to combating extreme poverty, hunger, preventable disease, and humanitarian crises worldwide. Money alone cannot undo the damage already done. But if this moment marks an unprecedented personal financial milestone, it should also be an opportunity for an unprecedented act of restitution. Musk has the resources to save and improve countless lives. He should use them.

As far as I can tell, Tulsi’s big “secret biolab” bombshell is recycled Kremlin propaganda. These labs were never secret. The U.S. spent decades funding biosafety and disease-surveillance work abroad under Nunn-Lugar, with the facility lists posted publicly by the State Department and our own embassy in Kyiv. Russia invented the “secret bioweapons” spin in 2022 to help justify invading Ukraine. Our own intelligence flagged it as disinformation. Now Tulsi is laundering that exact line, while conveniently forgetting the first Trump administration funded this same research. Nothing was hidden and the only thing being manufactured here is the coverup. Tulsi, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Anthropic reports that just over a year ago, AI generated only a tiny fraction of the computer code used to build Anthropic's AI systems. Today, Claude generates more than 80% of that code. At the same time, Anthropic says its AI development efforts have accelerated dramatically, with engineers producing roughly eight times more software than they did just a few years ago and Claude's coding capabilities improving more than fifty-fold. This is what the earliest stages of recursive AI look like. We cannot know where this process will lead, but we must all be paying very close attention and laying the foundations for much stronger and more dynamic governance.

Anthropic says Claude now writes more than 80% of the code merged into Anthropic's codebase. AI, in other words, is increasingly helping build the next generation of AI. Recursive AI is happening. This may prove to be one of the most consequential technological developments in human history.
