I’ve always coached in communities where kids have to work in the summer or year round.But I’ll say this summer is by far the highest number of kids having to work. I’m not mad, they have to help their families. But just reminds me that it’s tough out there right now for so many

Tra una foto e l’altra sono trascorsi 29 anni, i due hanno riscritto la storia del basket, hanno vinto e infranto record, sono diventati uno dei migliori coach e uno dei migliori giocatori nella storia del basket. Nel mezzo, però, Gregg Popovich ha avuto problemi di salute che lo hanno costretto ad abbandonare il basket. Ma nonostante i problemi a deambulare, a parlare e di vista, continua oggi a stare vicino alla sua squadra, gli Spurs, seguendo gli allenamenti e parlando di tanto in tanto anche negli spogliatoi. Ad accompagnarlo ovunque, ad aiutarlo a scendere dall’auto e salire le scale, a portargli la stampella, a trascorrere con lui intere giornate a parlare di basket, e a portarlo di tanto in tanto in tribuna a vedere le partite, c’è Tim Duncan. In questi 29 anni, da quando si sono conosciuti, un ragazzo, diventato uomo, continua ad ascoltare. Ascolta la persona che ha dichiarato di avergli cambiato la vita, di averlo reso un giocatore migliore e soprattutto una persona migliore. Il rapporto tra Popovich e Duncan è una storia che travalica i confini dello sport perché contiene tutto: stima, amicizia, rispetto, riconoscenza, gratitudine. È una storia semplicemente meravigliosa.

Congrats to Abby Tristan on placing 3rd at the State Meet in Austin! She set the NEW school record in Pole Vault at 12’6”. Proud of the way she competed and represented Lago Vista all season long. Great job, Abby!

Congratulations to sophomore, Harper Phillips, on finishing 6th at the UIL State Meet in Austin! A great accomplishment and a strong finish to an outstanding season. Proud of the way Harper represented Lago Vista on the state stage.

Lady Vikings made history in their first 4A State Golf appearance, finishing 4th in Texas with a 690 (351, 339). Day 1 featured Violet Wheeler’s first career hole-in-one, and the team came back on Day 2 to improve by 12 strokes. Big finish, big future for Lady Viking Golf.

Matthew Purkey is your Regional Champion in the 300m hurdles, bringing home gold, while Adam Holt finished as Regional Runner-Up with a strong second-place performance. Both are headed to STATE! Great job Vikings!

Back-to-back Champs! Your Vikings Boys are 4A Region IV Track & Field Champions once again, bringing home the title with 70 points in a dominant team performance. Congratulations to our athletes and coaches for the hard work, dedication, and determination that made it happen.

LVHS UIL Academics had a strong Regional showing. State qualifiers: Keegan Downs, Computer Science Graham Radcliffe, Current Events Ezequiel Vallejo Tigre, Social Studies State alternates: Ripley Sinclair and Tripp Henderson Congrats also to Violet Siegel for Top 10 in Spelling

Congratulations to all of our Lady Vikings that received District Honors for the 2026 Softball Season! Top Honors: Pitcher of the Year - Winter Callahan Offensive Player of the Year - Eliana Helton

Our BBQ team competed with the top 92 teams in the state and earned two top ten finishes and two more in the top 20. Hannah Hood placed 3rd in desserts, Olsen Cratty took 7th in beans and 12th in chicken, and Alexis Oates finished 14th in desserts. Proud of this team!

Lucy Rees and Kennedi McSkimming are State Medalists in VASE and State Champions. Lucy finishes her career as a four time state champion, winning every year of high school, an incredible achievement. Be sure to congratulate them on their accomplishments.
