I also plan to reach out to parents more to find out what their needs and wants are. In my district, we do that occasionally, but not enough.

A4) I am also creating PD to remind our staff about the need to focus on student and family assets when talking about them and thinking about them to better guide all components of instruction.

A3) I like the ideas mentioned tonight of providing transportation and childcare & then vary times events at school will be held to reduce participation barriers. I think the best way though will be through relationship building.

A4) I have already started being more vocal about potential needs of ELs during planning for the upcoming year. Also, instructional modifications to be present when needed to meet language and content learning needs.

A3) The book mentioned that many family engagement opportunities at the school (conferences) mostly are one-way communication from the school. We need to include activities that include family engagement and two-way communication.
