Both were very good in VFL last Saturday, and it's somehow appropriate that they debut against the Bombers. Joel began his VFL journey with 2 seasons at Essendon (2022-23), while Lukas deadset runs & kicks like Dustin Fletcher!

Fantastic to hear Luke Kennedy is making his AFL debut this week - well deserved & yet another @VAFA_HQ debutante in 2026. He's come a long way since winning the 2023 SENIOR Best & Fairest at the legendary Ormond Football Club at the age of just 16!

Neale Daniher was simply a great human. A brilliant and gifted footballer sadly cut down by injury, then an innovative, shrewd & successful AFL coach, then an incredibly courageous, relentless ambassador for research & funding into the scourge of MND. What a leagcy. RIP Neale.

Mike Tirico told me his secret. It wasn't talent. It wasn't luck. It was what he does on every flight home. A few years ago, I met him at a restaurant bar in Indianapolis during the Big Ten tournament. One of the biggest voices in sports. He didn't lead with his résumé. He introduced himself. He asked questions. He cared about every person in the room before anyone cared about him. Eventually, I asked him what made him great. He said after every game he calls, on the flight home, he pulls up the broadcast and watches it back. Listens to his own voice. Hunts for the misses. The dead air. The calls he wishes he could have over. Every game. Twenty-plus years in. He wasn't born world-class. He worked his way there one flight at a time. The best in any room are usually the ones still grading themselves the hardest. World-class isn't a personality. It's a habit.

Very talented player we've been watching developing nicely in @VAFA_HQ & @VFL for a few years. Has been great to see Will Lewis make the step up this year & James is also capable of that should someone give him the right opportunity.

Couldn't agree more. No arguments - it's just flat out wrong, like "for all intensive purposes," and "could of." So when we play that opposition again later in the season, do we call that 'reversing'??! (Here ends the old man rant😆)

He's eye-catching, Paul. Quick, zippy, smart, tidy. Ideally suited to the modern game & looks a type who could thrive at the next level when the game is a little quicker & cleaner.

Little known fact: when FOX Footy started in 2002, we used an old truck like this as our control room because there wasn't time to build one. The truck got driven into the loading dock & left there for years. The 'voiceover booth' was in the front where the driver sat!
