Education is the most powerful cause for good.
A good education can change lives. A great education system can change countries.
It is the privilege of my life to be able to play a part in making our education system better and fairer and opening the doors of opportunity for more Australians.
With the Victorian Deputy Premier and Minister for Education @BenCarrollMP today at La Trobe Uni to see their simulated classroom for teaching students in action.
This year we have changed what our future teachers are taught as part of their university degree.
This includes a stronger focus on how the brain works, how to teach children to read and write and count, and how to manage classroom behaviour.
La Trobe has led the way with the science of learning and evidence-based teaching.
That is embedded in the new curriculum for teaching students and is a key part of the reforms we are rolling out across the country.
This facility here at La Trobe is one of a kind in Australia and helps take that training to the next level.
Alex is a teaching student receiving Paid Prac.
It’s financial support for the practical part of your degree.
It’s real cost of living help for the people who have signed up to do some of the most important jobs in the country.
Fantastic to officially open the new amenities block at Linville State School in the Somerset Region today with Principal Mrs Monica Thornton and the School Captains.
This project was delivered with $850,000 through the Albanese Government’s Schools Upgrade Fund.
@JasonClareMP
Thrilled to represent Education Minister @JasonClareMP and officially open upgraded classrooms at Riverview State School today – thanks to $800,000 from the Albanese Labor Government’s Schools Upgrade Fund.
Because schools in our community deserve to have the best facilities.
Southern Cross is the latest uni to deliver quicker and cheaper degrees by offering up to a full year off a degree for TAFE students. 🙏
I think this is fantastic. This is what breaking down the artificial barriers between TAFE and uni looks like.
It will save students time and money.
This will take one year off your degree and save you up to $17,000.
We’re going to help more places do this by developing a national credit recognition framework.

Goodbye my friend. No one braver, more courageous or more joyous. I was so lucky to know you.
Thank you for everything. For the lives you saved, for the people you inspired, and for raging against the dying of the light ❤️
In the future more people are going to need more skills.
But for some people, getting to university means a 90 minute journey.
That's why we're bringing uni closer to home by doubling the number of Study Hubs for more people in the outer suburbs, the regions and the bush.
Great to pop into the Armadale Study Hub with @mattkeogh to hear from some awesome students.
Legislation we passed to cut funding to child care centres who aren’t meeting safety and quality standards is working.
It’s forcing centres to act.
Today, more early learning services are meeting national quality and safety standards than ever before.
But we’re not done yet and there is more work to do.
Mandatory child safety training is now rolling out.
90 per cent of the child care workforce has already done it.
It’s just the start.
The next tranche of advanced safety training will roll out in August.
Over 90 per cent of the child care workforce has now completed mandatory child safety training.
The new training has been available for three months but most workers have completed it well ahead of the six month deadline.
The workers in our centres are the best asset we’ve got to keep our kids safe and this shows how seriously they are taking this.
