Met late last year
@SteveHiltonx, candidate for California governor, at a private event. A pragmatic businessman—sharp, articulate, and focused on real outcomes.
I’ve also reflected on the strong job City of San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan has been doing locally, including his Dashboard of Results initiative with live performance metrics to drive transparency and accountability. I wish most U.S. major cities would follow this type of high-integrity initiative. San Jose is the largest city in Northern California, including the SF Bay Area/Silicon Valley.
Steve, on a broader scale, appears serious about restoring public safety, reducing crime and systemic corruption, cutting taxes and anti-business/growth regulations, minimizing government inefficiency, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, and bringing integrity, efficiency, and common sense back to state government.
In my view, much fraud, waste, and inefficiency remain concentrated in, or influenced by, entrenched unions, regulatory overreach, misguided climate agendas, unclean nonprofits/NGOs and public-private partnerships (e.g., "homeless and illegal migrant industrial complexes"), and private sector sponsors—entities often more aligned with political power, vote harvesting, and profitable greed than with real outcomes that serve the people.
As someone who values safety, economic vitality, growth, strength, innovation, clean governance, freedom, and practical results, I appreciated the conversation with Steve.
Curious to see how his run unfolds.
