The 2024 #NobelPrize laureates in chemistry Demis Hassabis and John Jumper have successfully utilised artificial intelligence to predict the structure of almost all known proteins. In 2020, Hassabis and Jumper presented an AI model called AlphaFold2. With its help, they have been able to predict the structure of virtually all the 200 million proteins that researchers have identified. Since their breakthrough, AlphaFold2 has been used by more than two million people from 190 countries. Among a myriad of scientific applications, researchers can now better understand antibiotic resistance and create images of enzymes that can decompose plastic. Lactate is an important substrate🍔for P. aeruginosa in infection sites. We show that PA’s “redundant” lactate dehydrogenases are used by different biofilm subpopulations and contribute to survival within macrophages🦠Great work by @Lindsey_Florek& collabs.doi.org/10.1128/mbio.00852-2…

Natalie was awesome to work with! She did everything. PCR, protein purification, FPLC, HPLC, kinetics, yada yada yada. I could go on and on! Crazy to think how much she was able to do and learn! Any college would be lucky to have her!
Last week we said goodbye to Natalie Osorio, a high school student who got a chance to work in the @group_boon this summer thanks to the Simon’s Foundation. Natalie worked with @JasonWithorn exploring the structure/function relationship of NosP in Pa!
