Abusers pick and choose scripture all the time. They only believe in literal concrete interpretation when it suits their biases and benefits their power.

Since the scripture specifically says be silent, why are they permitted to sing? Speak at all once they enter the church building? If you are taking the scripture literally, then how do you end up with only "they can't teach from the pulpit?" Do you allow hymns written by women?

Classic example of concrete thinking. Pharisees did same thing. God gave us the ability to see the whole picture and think critically. Jesus modeled this many times. Evangelicals are the Pharisees of today. They’ve hijacked the country through political means, but it won’t last.

If we do not respect the text that prohibits a woman to teach men or exercise authority over them, then we do not need to respect any other texts. What is at stake is the authority of the Biblical text. It is not a man or woman issue.

0.08% mortality from measles = 1 death / 1250 cases. Compare this to 1 serious complication in a million (0.0001%) doses of MMR vaccine. Death isn’t the only problem. 5-10% with measles develop life-threatening pneumonia. 1 in 1000 develop encephalitis. 1/x

Yes, Vitamin A is a recommended measles treatment. Immune reaction to measles is so strong that vit A is depleted and immune health depends upon supplementation. However, Vitamin A will not prevent infection and, because vitamin A is fat soluble, too much leads to toxicity. 6/x
