Everyone tells you to talk to your customers. Nobody tells you that most founders ask the wrong questions and walk away more confused than before. Here is what actually works: 1. Never ask if they like your idea. Ask what they currently do to solve the problem. 2. Never ask what they would pay. Ask what they are already paying for. 3. Never ask if they would use it. Ask what would stop them from using it today. The goal is not validation. It is disconfirmation. Find the reasons it won't work before you build.
