As school leaders start a new year remember the 4 needs of followers as researched by Gallup: 1. Trust: people feel safe to follow you. 2. Compassion: they know you care for them as a person. 3. Stability: people know what you expect and can rely on you.

Today’s leadership lesson from nature. Being the light for others is what great leaders do best. They grow others. They light the way. Be the light.

Today’s training partner reminded me of the importance of always seeing yourself accomplishing your goal of getting to that finish line. You can do it! You have to see it, believe it, to achieve it. And please try and get outdoors! Mother Nature recharges you! Inspire On!

And adults have the responsibility to be exceptional role models for children. Kids will be what they see. We need to focus our energy on the unique strengths that we all have. Let’s stop fixing people and start developing their strengths! Inspire On! @smccauley1287

The United States ranks 23rd in happiness and Kentucky kids rank 32nd in the USA. We are focusing on the wrong things. We are human beings not human doers. The number one job of a child is to make friends.

Great things are happening at Paris Independent Schools! Such great energy and positivity and a focus on being Difference Makers for kids! I was honored to speak to their staff about the importance of happiness at work and the power of having a best friend at work.

Today’s workout partner! Mr. Rat Snake! Cooling off in the garage/workout room. Like a good neighbor Bob evicted him back to the great outdoors! You need good neighbors!

Today’s pacer on the Ft Tower trails was a bit different than last weeks. Enjoyed the 4 mile hike with Mark. Mark will be in the group doing the 500 mile walk of the El Camino in Spain. Need to get our legs ready!

I listened again to Arthur Brooks podcast on Clifton Strengths. “The main thing I want students to understand is themselves. Because the most important task of a leader is to lead themselves. If you are going to lead yourself you have to know yourself.

Mission accomplished! Backpacking the Cirque of the Towers in Grand Teton-Bridger Forest in Wyoming. My key takeaways: 1. Work as a Team. People Matter and everyone has unique Strengths. 2. To learn…be curious, observe, ask questions.

3. Stay focused on your current step, but always know that you will finish the trail. 4. Enjoy the journey! 5. To grow…you must get out of your routine and comfort zone. An exceptional group of men. Another memory maker with my son. Live Inspired Live Boldly
