Here is is a little story for actors.
In the fall of 2024, a short film I made, The Crossing Over Express, went viral and I got called into Carmen Cuba’s office for the first time.
Someone I’d wanted to read for for a while. Two weeks later, I got pinned for a recurring role on a big Netflix show.
Didn’t get it.
Then in January, right after the fires, the same casting office had me tape for a big recurring role on a new series version of The Burbs, starring
@KekePalmer, created by the wonderful Celeste Hughey.
Didn’t get it.
Then a month and a half later, in March, they had me tape again. Smaller recurring role. Four episodes.
Didn’t get it.
Then, three weeks later, out of nowhere, I got a direct offer. No audition. One episode. The bar manager at their local spot.
A smaller role, yes, but a reminder that casting actually watches the tapes. They remember you.
You keep doing work you’re proud of, even when it feels like nothing’s happening… and eventually, something might.
I feel super lucky to be a small part of it.
Phenomenal cast and crew of kind, talented, very funny people.
All episodes of The Burbs are streaming now on
@peacock.
Keep pushing, actor pals.
