Yes, there are a ton of disgusting people victim blaming or choosing to defend the guy in a roundabout way but those comments are a good learning opportunity for those that get blindsided by not-so-secretly shitty colleagues & friends in this space. If your longtime buddy, newer friend, newer colleagues you look up to, or someone you're collabing with uses the same phrases/excuses about other situations? Drop them immediately. Learn the language, learn that there is no actual moral line for them (ex "no crime was committed", if a crime was added to all this, they'd find a new excuse), and understand that if they had the popularity and access? They'd do it too in a heartbeat and still blame everyone else. People with no backbone or self control are equally as dangerous to your safety
