A pattern change will take place Easter Weekend as an upper low and cold front bring multiple chances for rain. A few strong to severe storms will be possible Friday night through Sunday, so remember to check back for forecast updates through the week. #ctxwx#texomawx#dfwwx
Thanks to @DallasOEM for visiting @NWSFortWorth today to see behind the scenes in our office, and refresh/update on our support to them during all hazardous weather and special events, and our continued partnership with a common goal of public safety 🤝🏼
This is not a fun radar loop to look at! Already one large tornado confirmed in Arkansas, and the evening/night is just getting started for all those in the path of this large storm system.
A train of tornadic thunderstorms pushing over eastern Arkansas this evening on the southern edge of a line of severe storms stretching northward over portions of Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. A deadly weather event in progress. #tornadooutbreak
One of the most common questions we get at the NWS is “What is the difference between a Watch and a Warning?”. Hopefully this video helps explain the two. Thanks @TarrantCountyTX for the partnership! ⛈️
Do you know the difference between a Weather Watch and a Weather Warning? Understanding the difference is essential for your safety, find out the answer from the experts at the National Weather Service.

This morning's damaging thunderstorm wind event reminds us peak severe weather season is nearly here. My family and I were already taking cover when ~70 mph winds hit our house this AM. 70 mph winds are equivalent to an EF-0 tornado, & you should take cover the same way #dfwwx
A damage survey team has confirmed a brief EF-1 tornado 🌪️ occurred early this morning. Peak winds are estimated at 110 mph with a length of 0.42 miles. Read more at forecast.weather.gov/product…
Additional surveys will be conducted tomorrow in other areas that received damage. #dfwwx
A near flawless balloon launch from a skilled meteorologist in winds gusting near 50 mph 👏 The data from this balloon will collect critical atmospheric measurements to help improve weather model accuracy.
A lesser known challenge we have on windy days... launching the balloon in 50 mph wind gusts! 🎈👀
Successful? Yes. Graceful? We'll let you decide. (Note: no meteorologists were blown away in the making of this video.😉) #dfwwx#txwx#BalloonWrangling
⚠️Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Monday night into Tuesday this upcoming week. At this time, all modes of severe weather appear possible, particularly east of the I-35 corridor. Check back for forecast updates in the comings days as we iron out the details⚠️

Our office suddenly lost a great man last week, and not gonna lie, we are still pretty shocked at his loss 💔 Our ESA, Charles, was a great friend to everyone, a leader by example, easily made everyone laugh, and influenced so many. His loss leaves a huge hole in this world.
In honor of the 12 Aggies who lost their lives in the 1999 Aggie Bonfire collapse, Bonfire Remembrance will be held at 2:42 a.m. on Nov. 18 at the Bonfire Memorial.

Today was a rewarding day working with and learning even more from some of our EM partners as they prepare for one of the largest events in the DFW area ⚽️
Another exciting day to work for the NWS in N TX 😊. Our partners at DFWAirport hosted a fantastic tabletop exercise including a number of our EM & NWS colleagues. Discussing weather decision making for the World Cup. A LOT learned. Proud of @JenLDunn, OPG, SRH & @NWSFortWorth!
We are approaching some of the hottest days of the year so far with DANGEROUS heat conditions for those practicing and working outside, especially in the afternoon hours. Enact additional safety protocols to protect all kids and adults the next several days #dfwwx#texomawx
Portions of North TX, including the Metroplex, have been upgraded to an Excessive Heat Warning for Fri afternoon.🥵Expect heat index values to exceed 110 degrees in the warned (pink) area. An elevated threat for wildfires will exist west of I-35 as well. Stay cool! #dfwwx#ctxwx
Making sure I have this correct: the gymnast & her team have 1 minute during which emotions are high and celebrations are going on to review and challenge the judges’ score, but everyone else has DAYS to decide if they did it correctly? (This one seems to be all on the judges.)
BREAKING — The International Olympic Committee has made it official that USA’s Jordan Chiles must return the Bronze medal from Floor Exercise and it will be awarded to Ana Barbosu of Romania. This follows a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport and a recertification of the results by the International Gymnastics Federation.

It’s football/fall athletics time! Had a very rewarding visit with partners at Baylor’s Pre-Season Football meeting today. Heat is usually the main weather element our ISDs and Higher Ed deal with in the fall, but preparation for all types of weather & non-weather is critical.
How busy was May ‘24 for @NWSFortWorth? This is 64 pages of entered, QC’d, and certified STORM REPORTS! 😱 700 individual entries! This report surpasses each spring month of 2011 & 2015 by at least 200 reports. Why so many reports: Better training & reporting methods #skywarn
