A hand-painted 5x7 house portrait of a classic colonial in Connecticut 🇺🇸 This was commissioned as a going-away gift from neighbors for a family leaving their longtime home. We kept the composition intentionally simple so the focus stayed on the house itself.

Nobody knows it’s going to be THE restaurant when they walk in.
It’s just dinner. A first date. A random Tuesday.
Then years later, someone is commissioning a watercolor painting of it because that’s where everything started ❤️

One of my favorite things to paint is local architecture, especially the places people recognize instantly.
Restaurants, storefronts, neighborhood landmarks…
This one was painted in ink and watercolor. Also, if anyone was wondering, yes—I paint interiors and food too 😉

I think a lot about what kind of art will last. There’s something about slowing down for detail work that changes how a piece feels. And yes, I notice things no one else will notice 😅 It stops being something you look at & becomes something you keep. That’s always the goal 💛

This Queen Anne beauty in Montclair, NJ was the longtime home of Connolly & Co. Insurance. Every time I thought I was done, I found another architectural detail, shrub, porch post, or window to obsess over.
