At-Risk Missing Child: Ellie Lorenzo, 3 years old, African American, approximately 3 feet tall and 60 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. Ellie was last seen at about 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, 7/11/24, at the Casa Arroyo Apartments on Racho Arroyo Parkway in Fremont. Ellie is under the custody of her father, who resides in Fremont, and the father passed away earlier today. Ellie has not been located since. Anyone with information, please call Fremont Police at (510) 790-6800 option 3. In an emergency please call 911.

Briefly pausing my X retirement: I'm glad to see skepticism re: Haidt's ecent book about smartphones inducing anxiety (i.e. wired.com/story/pete-e... & nature.com/articles/d41...). Tech isn't that deterministic and it's destructive to keep making that argument!

I write all of this with the caveat that I can see how overstimulation via screens is highly problematic for young children and developing minds. But judging and curtailing teen communication and mental health is so much more complex than blaming devices.
