Our most recent acquisitions are off the roof! 11 redundant air vents have been removed from the North Wing roof as part of the restoration works. Strangely the 7 clay vents were never in use and are thought to have been added as a decorative feature…..

Did you know that Towneley has the largest known Priest Hole still to exist in England?
Thanks to the amazing research carried out by Micheal Hodgetts (1936-2022) & continued by his son Paul, we can claim this accolade - for now at least. The second edition of Michael's book….
