🎉 Last October, the R21/Matrix-M™ malaria vaccine received @WHO recommendation!
🔬 Highly effective, it could save over half a million lives yearly.
💉 With easy mass-scale manufacturing.
💪 100M doses annually by the Serum Institute, doubling in 2 years!
#WorldMalariaDay
Today is World Malaria Day! The theme this year is "Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world". In 2022, malaria cases worldwide reached 249 million, with 608,000 recorded deaths.
Developed by the Jenner Institute at Oxford University, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and combined with Matrix M adjuvant from @Novavax, R21/Matrix M was developed for the prevention of malaria in children.
Even though the malaria burden remains high, the availability of two effective malaria vaccines, in combination with other public health measures, will help save and improve the lives of millions of children and their families.
British science will help save countless lives. I saw first-hand the research at @JennerInstitute@PSIOxford@OxfordVacGroup and learnt about the game-changing R21 vaccine to work towards making malaria history
Large-scale vaccination against malaria using the RTS,S vaccine begins in Cameroon as it is added to the childhood vaccination schedule. A historic good news event that will save tens of thousands of lives. Vaccines really are the gift that keeps on giving!
C’est historique : la première campagne de vaccination systématique contre le paludisme a été lancée aujourd’hui.
La maladie tue 600.000 personnes par an, dont 500.000 enfants de moins de 5 ans, principalement en Afrique.

The MMR vaccine protects against 3 serious diseases: measles, mumps & rubella.
With an increased number of measles cases in England, it is important to ensure you are fully protected against the disease.
