I've seen a lot of people talk about Ali's worth to the show only pertaining to that of being half of Swarla. I love Swarla, but Ali and Vicky are just as important as individuals as they are as a duo. Ali had 18 years of phenomenal acting and storylines before Swarla. Yes, within those years, she was also in several other pairings—both romantic and platonic. But it was also her individual, stand-alone moments, separate from those pairings, that showcased the true extent of her talents. Last week marked seven years since they aired a special episode dedicated solely to Carla and her psychosis, making Sam's current storyline all the more poignant and impactful, while highlighting the importance of mental health care and education once again. 👏🏻 Before that, she had several other storylines that were equally as hard-hitting and important, proving to the powers that be that she was more than capable of leading the psychosis storyline. Hello, beautiful. How lovely it was to see you. A very short but poignant scene between Sam and Carla today. Carla being the one to recognise what was happening with Sam not only gave us a callback to her heartbreaking experience, but it also further highlighted the seriousness of the illness and how our mental health is something we need to take care of and be educated about. Mental health doesn't discriminate. Anyone, of any age, can find themselves navigating the painful terrain of a mental health crisis.
