#DYK: The average family doctor spends 19 hours a week on administrative tasks, which accounts for 40% of their work week? It's time to tackle the #AdminBurden and allow our doctors to focus on what matters most: patient care.

There is no #HealthEquity for #NorthernOntario. This CBC piece highlights some of the unique circumstances to ‘level the playing field,’ beyond the human health resource crisis, for the North.
CBC producer Ryan Garland and I spent a week following around health care staff at hospitals with North Shore Health Network. We produced this doc to about the challenge keeping the doors of the E-Rs open. #onpoli A thread about what we learned. 🧵1/9 youtube.com/watch?v=KsB1fMje…

This ⬇️ And if you do use an acronym, you should be ready to explain what it stands for. Because I will ask.
Just because you can use an acronym doesn't mean you should.

No they don’t you twit. But did you know that your Lord and Savior “designed” a system that can abort fertilized eggs? So you might say that God designed procreation to include abortion! Stew on that.

"The mining industry in Ontario faces a stark reality: one in four miners is set to retire and nearly 50% of skilled engineers are reaching retirement age in the next decade, just as the World Bank estimates a nearly 500% increase in supply of critical minerals – by 2050 – to specifically feed the clean energy transition... The Ontario mining industry stands at the forefront of a generational opportunity where the pursuit of valuable minerals intertwines with the high-tech and low-carbon demands of the 21st century." We have opportunities to destroy violent patriarchy, to be transparent in sport, to be racially diverse on boards, be consciously anti-oppressive and practice harm reduction. Unlearning is a huge part of this. And we are all responsible: every coach, parent, player, staff, fan.

I love the spirit of this post. My key takeaway: Activism done well, like allyship, requires meaningful action. That said, I don’t support arguing online, nor justifying it with having done good first.
15 Oct 2023
New rule! Before you’re allowed to argue with anyone online about the “spilled blood” of your tribe, you need to go spill some blood of your own.  Go donate blood, money, or time for your fellow human. Mindlessly watching, reading, or scrolling the news without actually doing anything is not activism, it’s a waste of time. Your job is not to “educate” your ideological opponents, it’s to take care of each other. First give, help someone, anyone! Turn down the temperature and the volume. Then let’s talk. Share the last charitable thing you did in the comments below to give others ideas of what they can do instead of endlessly watching the news…

Today, the entire world saw horrifying videos from Israel. Terrorists humiliate women and men, detain even the elderly, and show no mercy.   In the face of such a terrorist strike, everyone who values life must stand in solidarity.   We in Ukraine have a special feeling about what has happened. Thousands of rockets in the Israeli sky... People killed just on the streets... Civilian cars shot through... Detainees being humiliated… Our position is crystal clear: anyone who causes terror and death anywhere on the planet must be held accountable.   Today’s terrorist attack on Israel was well-planned, and the entire world knows which sponsors of terrorism could have endorsed and enabled its organization.   Israel has the full right to defend itself against terror. As any other state. And it’s critical that the whole world responds to terror in a unified and principled manner.
