The source isn’t the water itself — it’s the pipes, fittings, and materials that leach lead into systems.
What needs to happen:
• Stop installing lead-containing components
• Strengthen standards and enforcement
• Replace high-risk infrastructure
Eliminating lead from drinking water is achievable with coordinated global action.

Over the past several years, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has sent hundreds of millions of dollars to states so schools can test their water for lead. In Georgia, many schools have been slow to opt into testing, but a change in rules could make it easier for more schools to take advantage of the funding starting this year.
