Coach and captain 🥹 #StanleyCup

When i interviewed @Kreynolds19_ for an Assistant Coach job with me @TheCCHL it was clear in the first 5 minutes I was talking to a young man who had high Hockey IQ who could communicate the game thus develop players but most importantly he is a man of integrity. Lucky players.

I remember rehearsing for this bit on the sidewalk outside of the Tonight Show with @billyjoel and his band. I asked him, “Should we just do The Lion Sleeps Tonight?” There were two other songs. He said, “Well let’s just try it now with my band.” And that turned into three doo-wop songs on an NYC street corner. And THAT turned into this bit. Happy birthday to the one and only.

A final piece of advice from Holly Butcher - written the day before she passed away from cancer at just 27: “It’s a strange thing knowing you’re going to die young. At 26, I thought I had time… To fall in love. Start a family. Grow old. But cancer doesn’t care about plans. Now, I understand how fragile life really is. Every single day is a gift, not a guarantee. I’m not writing this to scare you. I’m writing to remind you: really live. Stop stressing over little things. Be kind to your body- move it, nourish it, stop criticizing it. One day you’ll wish you had appreciated it. Go outside. Look at the sky. Feel the sun. Just be. Spend less time chasing “stuff” - more time making memories. Don’t skip moments with people you love. Laugh more. Write a note. Tell someone you love them. Complain less. Give more. Helping others brings more joy than anything you can buy. Be present. Put your phone down. Show up - really show up. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need a perfect body, or a perfect life. Just follow what makes your heart light up. Say no to what drains you. Make changes when you need to. And please - donate blood. I wouldn’t have had that extra year without it. And that year gave me memories I’ll hold close… forever. Thank you for reading this. Live your life well. Colin Dorgan, who lost his mother, brother & grandfather in the Lynch Arena shooting last month, scores a 2OT game-winner to send his team to the @RIIL_sports D-II championship game. New Vancouver crosswalk unveiled to honour veterans ❤️🇨🇦🤝

It has come to my attention that earlier this week there was an order issued prohibiting individuals working in certain court facilities from wearing poppies while on duty in those locations. This order was issued under the guise that the poppy is somehow a ‘political statement.’ This is disgusting. The poppy is not a political statement. It is a symbol of remembrance and respect for the fallen and those who served and continue to serve our country. Poppies have been worn in Canada since 1921. We have courts and a democracy because of the courage of those who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of, and in defence of, the very rights and freedoms we enjoy. The judges who issued this order are wrong. While I respect the independence of the judiciary, I respect veterans, the very people who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country, our values and our democracy, more. It is not lost on me that our veterans fought so we can enjoy the freedoms the courts uphold. That’s why I find it impossible to believe any judge would ban a symbol of respect for the fallen, our veterans and their families. I stand firmly behind anyone who wants to wear a poppy in their workplace. Because of the actions of these judges, if necessary, I will introduce The Nova Scotia Remembrance Observance Act that will enshrine the right to wear a poppy in the workplace from November 1 to November 11.

Incredible. A café employs people with Down syndrome to affirm their humanity and break societal stigmas. An extra chromosome does not determine a person’s worth or humanity. We need more of this.
