Honored to join Glocester today for the planting of a Liberty Tree — one in every city and town across Rhode Island to mark 250 years of American independence. 🌳
A special thank you to Secretary of State Amore and the Rhode Island 250 Commission for the invitation and for making this initiative possible.
Rhode Island has always punched above its weight when it comes to this nation’s founding. Before Lexington and Concord, there was the Gaspee. We were the first to call for a Continental Congress, and the first to declare independence — May 4, 1776, two months before the rest of the colonies.
