A rising star, James Talarico, 36, is a Presbyterian seminary student and former public school teacher. Raised by a single mother, he was later adopted by Mark Talarico and has a sister.
His grandfather, a Baptist minister in South Texas, taught him that Christianity was a simple but not easy religion rooted in two commandments: love God and love your neighbor.
James Talarico got a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Texas at Austin, where he organized students to fight tuition increases. He was a member of the Friar Society, the oldest honor society at the University of Texas. He later got a Master of Education Policy from Harvard University.
In August 2022, James Talarico began pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary while serving as a member of the Texas House of Representatives.
