France has reportedly told India that “everything is open” regarding cooperation on a future sixth-generation fighter programme, including advanced aircraft development and key defence technologies.
The opportunity has gained attention as the original FCAS fighter component involving France, Germany, and Spain has faced major challenges, creating space for new international partnerships.
A partnership could provide India access to cutting-edge capabilities such as stealth technologies, advanced sensors, next-generation engines, combat-cloud networking, and manned-unmanned teaming concepts.
For India, such cooperation could complement the AMCA programme while accelerating the development of future air-combat technologies through technology sharing and industrial collaboration.
If discussions advance, India could emerge as a major partner, production hub, and contributor to a future French-led sixth-generation fighter ecosystem.
