Reposting cause she locked her account and people couldnโ€™t see the post I was replying to lol A huge chunk of terminally online freaks are obsessed with dark skin and despise light skin for some reason; itโ€™s extremely bizarre. They hate when video game & animation characters have light skin so they blackwash them in their fanfics and celebrate blackwashed versions in live action remakes. And if a character is originally darker skinned, anyone slightly lighter skin than the character is automatically scrutinized as participating in whitewashing. It only ever goes in one direction. This hatred for lighter skin results in increased hatred (and jealousy) for whites and Asians. These people are delusional and mentally ill. If a brown girl can play Snow White, a white-Filipina Hawaiian can play Nani. Yeah it would be honestly better to have an actual Native Hawaiian actress play Nani, but whatever. You made your bed with all the race-swapping, you get to sleep in it.

Agree with you
Dozens of black Marvel villains (Tombstone, Prowler, Diamondback, Bushmaster, Moses Magnum, Killmonger and so on). But nah, a recolor Norman Osborn will fill the void nicely. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

Look, I'm going to be as frank about this as possible because this has been going on for half a decade and it's very tiresome "Blackwashing" does not bring people together or shine light on anything. It's the same mentality as all the afrocentrist retards that are like "original Hebrews were black" or "it was Africans who taught Europeans how to bathe and do plumbing" or "actually the vikings were black" and so on. It is insecurity made manifest. It is done by those who only ever acknowledge themselves, associate themselves, and identify themselves by their skin color and realize that skin color alone does not give one pride or culture, thus will hijack and aggressively assimilate works of others to feel better about themselves. "Whitewashing", or at least whitewashing in this particular instance, is a combative meme used to make fun of the insecure individuals that promote or create blackwashing. Because at the end of the day, the ones who unironically promote/create blackwashing do it to "fix art" or are also in the business of harassing artists that use a "wrong" shade of color for a character. Whitewash trolls when then go "well fuck you and your sensibilities, I'll do everything in my power to offend you for a laugh" I know I'm wasting this time and effort on a Terminally Online Free Palestine Slacktavist (TOFPS), but fuck it I am really tired of this dumbass "discussion". If you legit like blackwashing, please just embrace other cultures and come to terms with your own insecurities. Grow as a person and you will enjoy life and yourself a lot more. You are more than your skin color.
whitewashing = made primarily for ragebait and removing representation of minorities, usually made out of anger or spite blackwashing = made primarily to bring people together and shine the light on those not normally seen, usually made out of pride and want for diversity

I don't like whitewashing or blackwashing. Both are wrong, period. Let's stay consistent. If one is okay, then the other is okay too. You can't have your cake and eat it, too, when you tell people that they aren't allowed to do something while, at the same time, you're participating in the same nonsense that you disavow others from doing. Then, expect people to double down on it out of spite.

But Raven is not South Asian. Her mother was some white woman from Gotham who was saved by Azarathians after she got pregnant by a demon named Trigon. Raven said point blank she wasn't Indian and implied it was a racist assumption.

Based of an Indian woman. Not "is" a Indian woman. It's literally just the hair and one piece of clothing. Raven is not Indian by ethnicity or religion. She is literally a white girl from a satanic-ish cult. And again, this version of raven is death since 40 years ago.

In live action projects, when you change established characters into something else. You have the comfortable excuse of 'They were the best for the job.' However in animated projects, where you can control everything down to the last pixel? You no longer have that excuse.
