A lot of people have been discussing this most recent gun ban and prattling on and on about how these aren't weapons of war and they're just sporting rifles and we're "law abiding hunters and sport shooters" etc etc.
Here's the thing. I'm not a hunter. I'm not a sport shooter. I'm a gun owner. That's it.
Weapons of war? You could take my Tavor into the battlefield as-is the way that I built it and it would do just fine. Sure it's not fully automatic but automatic fire from a rifle is rarely used in combat anyway. I built it the way that I did because that's what I wanted. The end. None of your business. I'm not out there shooting people and I don't care what gangs and criminals are doing. That isn't my responsibility to solve for society by giving up MY GUNS any more than it's my responsibility to prevent other drivers from driving drunk by giving up my car. Get fucked.
I'm sick of people acting like it's wrong to own a weapon of war and it annoys me that fellow gun owners go along with the language of our enemies.
"No no these are just sporting rifles we promise! They have no possible use case outside of sports!"
When even our own advocacy groups are using this stupid language and conceding that sport shooting is the only valid reason to own a rifle that looks like this, we have lost the war. Now it's not us who decide what a rifle is suitable for, it's the government, and they deem which uses (and therefore which guns) are unacceptable. We gave them this power by conceding to their language.
No. Fuck that. My rifle isn't just for "sport" shooting it's for everything I need it to be.
It's for my own recreation. It's potentially for hunting if there's ever food shortages. God forbid it's also for defending myself - including in any potential war that may or may not EVER find itself taking place here at home.
My rifle is a tool with many potential uses, many of which I hope it never actually needs to be used for.
ALL weapons (including sticks, stones, and your bare hands) are weapons of war when they need to be. Even the lowly GSG that all of us have been having so much fun joking about these last few days. If someone was truly desperate and all they had available to them was a GSG, you can bet your ass they'd take it to war. Would they win? Probably not but they have every right to try and survive just like you and I.
Human beings have the inherent right to defend themselves and by extension, must also have the right to own effective tools for that purpose. This is why gun rights are human rights and this is why I'm not giving up my firearms under any circumstance.
I implore you all to adopt the same attitude. Give them nothing; not a single inch, including the language.
