On rare occasions, a piece of theater will so move me that I keep going back, again and again. FALSETTOS was one of those shows for me. I was so happy to bawl my eyes out every time. RIP to the genius who wrote it, William Finn.
Last night I went to the opening of DEATH BECOMES HER, and saw Beyonce get secretly slipped in and out. Tonight I was at GYPSY and sat in front of Michelle Obama, who was slipped in and out.
I sense a trend!
I saw WICKED last night and loved it.
I believe Jonathan Bailey is the first openly gay actor to ever play the straight romantic lead in a studio movie. And he's fantastic. Let's do more of that.
Being a gay guy during Halloween is about coming up with the coolest costume idea ever, and showing up at the party and there are three other guys with the same costume. And they put in more effort.
I was wrong, and I'm so glad I was.
I saw OH MARY! Off Broadway and just loved it. Hilarious.
But moving to Broadway? Would it work in a larger theater? Was there enough of an audience?
It has broken the house record for the Lyceum theater 7 times. It's a huge hit! Yay!
"Sit Down You're Rockin' The Boat" from GUYS & DOLLS is one of the best theater songs ever written. There have been many sensational versions, but my most favorite is Ken Page's. Treat yourself to a listen today. And RIP to the great Ken Page.
Imagine living a life, whereupon when you die, literally hundreds (if not thousands) of people post about your talent and your kindness and your activism and your generosity and your love. Imagine that.
Saw REAR WINDOW again this past weekend. In it, Thelma Ritter plays a nurse for an insurance company. Her client, Jimmy Stewart, broke his leg, so she goes to visit him every day. She fixes him meals, massages him, and even helps him solve a murder. Imagine that?
