UPDATES: Leaders in Kabale District have explained the delay in implementing the Trade Order in Kabale Municipality, saying the process requires more time to organize effectively. Speaking after a closed-door meeting at Kabale Municipal Council, which excluded journalists, leaders noted that careful planning is needed to ensure smooth execution of the directive.
Kabale Municipality Mayor, Emmanuel Ssentaro Byamugisha, said leadership has been holding meetings to assess how best to implement the order. He added that authorities are identifying suitable locations where affected traders can relocate their businesses, noting that the law is necessary due to the high number of businesses operating illegally.
Meanwhile, the Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Katamba, emphasized that leaders are committed to implementing the directive but must follow proper procedures for the benefit of the public. The Deputy Town Clerk, Eric Sunday, confirmed that adequate space has been prepared to accommodate those affected.
