A light bulb moment for me was realizing that much of the talk about student "motivation" (how to boost it or why a given kid lacks it) is really code for talking about compliance - that is, the extent to which students do whatever we tell them.

First, call them school counselors not guidance counselors. Second, when I say I ❤️ them - truly I do. I got to be teamed with Jillian, @alixandra27 & @sarah_deal4 . I have immeasurable gratitude for all they taught me, but also opportunity to witness the best of the best!

In 2016 I signed up for an @ASCD webinar w/ @educationhall & @KristinKsouers - I’ve kept my notes from that day all these years bc that learning sparked a curiosity to know & understand more. To see my QRG positioned on a page beside their books kinda blew my mind!
