Loved doing a new Writing Workshop @SheffLibraries for 11-16yro @otsfestival ‘Write to Protest, Write to Change’. And whoah, we made magic! We laughed, we cried, we WROTE, defending & celebrating what we care about. Keanu gave me permission to share his fab poem on Art. Wow, eh?

Back to school. I had the best time in Sheffield @otsfestival @sheffhallamuni Such a warm welcome, from the MA Creative Writing students, to the Wednesday night audience, in convo with @JoannaCDobson, to the passionate, principled young writers @SheffLibraries. Thank you! 🙏

BOOOooks! We're reading spooktastic thrillers, ghost stories, gripping gothic novels & some of us are even braving horrors (shhh, not me!) Library mascot 'Mortimer' is sporting a new pumpkin-coloured autumnal beret crocheted by Y7 Kyra! Happy Hallowe'en! (Love your Library).

Choosing a Secondary School? Come & see us! I love this school & community - it's a great place to work, & be a student, too. All 3 of my children (all very different) had (or are having) a great time here; 2 are now at Uni & remember their #JOGfamily days with great affection!

Well, we're a few weeks into the new school year, all Y7s have been 'inducted' into our marvellous Library, & I ought to get back on School Library Twitter: it's been a while! Clubs to come, new books in - book chat to be had - so much to do! #Lovemyjob #JOGfamily

Always tissues in the school library. Y8s have finished Of Mice & Men ... proper sobbing! Tissues handed out, kind words, lots of chat about other books, films, TV that has really moved them, & a handful of new books to take away & read. Worlds of empathy, worlds of history..

Helen is a wonderfully innovative & talented artist & official artist for the @wainwrightprize. But she was also a former student here @jog_school! And we recently spotted these stunning butterflies - the school books she mentions here, were #JOGfamily school books! Oh my heart!

Inspired by a passage in The Circling Sky by Neil Ansell about an encounter with Silver-washed Fritillary butterflies aka Valezina & memories of wallpaper I covered my school books with,this #papercraft artwork will be in the upcoming exhibition @RhegedCentre

A powerful letter to school librarians that made me cry @ThatKerryHudson because, yes, this is what we do (it's a deep, but essential privilege). It's safety, a refuge, a champion, aspiration & inspiration: It's saying “Look at the world & all the things you might do in it.”

It's not everyday your school librarian @uksla has an award winning paperback out, & as we always encourage our students to be proud of themselves & celebrate their achievements, we should set an example, however excruciating! Encouraging writing as well as reading @PennyPostWB

It’s paperback day for #OnGallowsDown! I took it up its hill to celebrate, with the skylarks, yellowhammers, summer chalk flowers & butterflies. It’s got a beautiful new cover, won the @RJefferiesSoc Award, & is longlisted for @wainwrightprize! Astonished & proud @chelseagreen!

Portraiture club was fantastic today.
The students experimented with some blind continuous line drawings from life and then turned these into wire sculptures ✏️
