Good things are happening in Fox Point. 🏀 Excited to see the progress on the Johnny Britto Basketball Courts and the improvements coming to this space! My office allocated over $200K to this project to redo the basketball courts for someone who did so much for the youth of our community (myself included). Looking forward to seeing the community enjoying these courts again soon. 🏀

Providence, I hear your concerns. We've introduced legislation to detect and investigate price gouging landlords. Policy is about finding creative solutions to real problems and this ordinance was drafted in collaboration with our Legal Department and provides a legally defensible way to identify potential rent price gouging without distorting the market or discouraging new housing production.

Providence, I have introduced an Anti Rent Price Gouging Ordinance to identify price gouging landlords accountable and to ensure their compliant when they hit tenants with excessive rent increases. This is on top of introducing the $1 Million Rent Relief fund which is coupled with $500,000 in evicition defense. If you live in Ward 1 and have a price gouging landlord, email us info@johnforward1.com.  I'll continue fighting for means-tested solutions that keep Providence a city where working families can afford to live. 🏠  Please keep comments constructive and respectful. We welcome thoughtful discussion and differing viewpoints. However, inflammatory, abusive, or intentionally divisive content does not contribute to a productive conversation. Let’s focus on solutions.

Check out the new renovations at India Point Park! India Point Park in Ward 1 has recently received over $2.2 million in repairs and capital improvements, making one of Providence’s most beloved public spaces even better. Under the leadership of Superintendent Nillson, we’ve added a new playground, new swings and made the park ADA accessible so more residents can enjoy everything it has to offer. We look forward to seeing you there! 🌳🌊

Downtown Providence is growing, and projects like the Superman Building are a big part of that future. By bringing hopefully 300 new housing units to the heart of our city (20% slated to be deed restricted and more affordable), we can help address the housing shortage, revitalize downtown and create more opportunities for residents and local businesses. Take a look at this conversation with Providence Foundation Executive Director David Salvatore about the future of downtown Providence. 💙 #providence #downtownprovidence

Part One of The Artist Highlight, celebrating the people who make Providence the Creative Capital 🎨🧑‍🎨 Meet Crandon Whitsitt-Lynch, a Rhode Island native whose passion for art extends far beyond his day job. Working as a technician at Rhode Island College, Crandon spends much of his free time in the college’s art studios creating prints, sculptures, ceramics, and metal works. Having grown up surrounded by creativity and the arts, he has continued to cultivate that passion through a wide range of mediums, always exploring new ways to bring ideas to life.

It was an honor to present citations from the City of Providence to the creative directors in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and contributions to our local fashion community. Their creativity and vision are helping shape the future of fashion in Providence and inspiring the next generation of artists and entrepreneurs.

Great spending time speaking with our seniors, answering their questions and hearing directly about the experiences and concerns that matter most to them. Hearing directly from residents is one of the most important parts of serving our community. #communityfirst 💙
