If you've ever dreamt of witnessing the awe-inspiring Northern Lights, you won't want to miss out on an incredible opportunity waiting for you in Churchill, Manitoba this winter!
Last night our guests near Churchill dining beneath the northern lights witnessed a meteor exploding (??) nearby.
This video was captured ~30km away from our guests; I understand this ‘event’ happened pretty much overhead. Wild. @exploreorg@PolarBears@FrontiersNorth
Our team knew this, whatever it was, was not normal and expressed their excitement.
Our guests (most of whom had never experienced aurora) thought it was just part of the northern lights show, haha.
Tonight our second EV Tundra Buggy, Buggy 10, is being put into active duty helping host one of our groups in Churchill to experience aurora borealis (i.e. northern lights).
Here’s B10 silently laying a patch of rubber. The torque in these EVs is next level. Volume up 🔊
Great @Skift article about demand for cold weather tourism in Scandinavian 🇪🇺, mirroring @FrontiersNorth experience in the 🇨🇦 subarctic. Our 2022 combined sales for winter northern lights, summer beluga whale, & autumn polar bear trips at 106% of 2019.📈

Recently returning from 🇺🇸 in the Nexus line, presented my Nexus card, was unceremoniously escorted to the back of general security clearance line (which was fine). I asked if I was doing it wrong. No response. I guess this is my answer 👇🏻

FWIW all along I’ve been asking our sales team if ArriveCAN has been cited as an issue for our multi-day, guided group tour guests & prospective guests. The answer is NO. It may have been an issue for other travellers & companies, but it wasn’t for us.

That being said, my push-back to the government re: ArriveCAN is that travellers don’t want to download the 🇨🇦 app, 🇪🇺 app, 🇺🇸 app, etc. and that we need a globally interoperable customs/health verification app.
We are excited to officially share our new logo!
The tree in our new logo is intended to resemble a white spruce krummholz formation (i.e. a flag tree) commonly found along drier coastal areas near Churchill.

Beluga Whale researcher Valeria Vergara, representing @Raincoast, is in Churchill helping us launch a new entry into our Conservation Journey® franchise of trips - Conservation Journey: Beluga Whales. Thank you Valeria and Raincoast Foundation!
Great being back in #Churchill! Gave a talk about #belugas, communication, the importance of sound to cetaceans, and our work @Raincoast to understand and mitigate underwater noise impacts on cetaceans. The good news: there are tangible solutions! @FrontiersNorth

Why not operate a Winnipeg-Minneapolis line to bolster short-haul cross border tourism?
This is not a decades long infrastructure project. This can be done quickly.

#Alberta, #Saskatchewan & #Manitoba offer unique outdoor, indigenous, and culinary tourism opportunities for visitors at home and abroad. I talked with partners across the prairies on improving tourism destinations for all seasons and adding new air routes & travel corridors.
This reminds me of a Pearl Jam concert in Winnipeg (Sep-2005, natch) the guy at the urinal beside me said he saw Neil Young at the airport earlier that day.
Spoiler alert: Uncle Neil did not make an appearance on stage that evening.

I'm not smart enough to assign an equivalent monetary value to all this, but I am sure it is substantially higher than LBJ's annual marketing budget.
