Don’t ask builders to go build while you bulldoze what they’ve built.
I’m all for removing fake Shopify reviews.
We all want a trustworthy ecosystem.
But we shouldn’t be deleting reviews just because we’re uncertain.
If we can’t clearly separate outdated, unhelpful, untrusted, or fake, maybe the system needs more transparency, not more deletion.
Estimates suggest ~50% of all reviews were removed.
Real reviews were swept up too.
Some may have been older, shorter, or from stores that have since closed.
That alone shouldn't invalidate them.
Reviews are hard earned.
They’re not just numbers.
They represent people and real support.
They reflect weekends and late nights.
Don’t delete it just because it's noisy.
We understand this is hard to do at scale.
But that’s exactly why transparency matters.
Want a fairer ecosystem?
1) Show us what was removed
2) Tell us why
3) Let us challenge it
There’s always work to do.
Maybe it starts with showing more of their work instead of deleting ours.
