I always ask my residents what is “their number” for asymptomatic htn. They all know the ACEP guidelines and usually just send these folks home from ED with an anti hypertensive Rx and follow up, but there is always a number that makes them uneasy. 250, 270, 290 systolic?
I had to admit and asymptomatic HTN yesterday.
In my defense the BP was 250/120 and wouldn’t budge. But still….
