I've been away from twitter the last month - here's a quick update on the biz:
• Dec: $7.6k, 34 cleans, 68% recurring
• Jan: $5.3k, 26 cleans, 85% recurring
For Feb we've got 27 cleans on the calendar so far with 89% of them recurring.
Ls from Dec and Jan:
• Lost a key weekly client ($1k/month)
• 2 brand new cleaners flaked last minute on their jobs leaving me scrambling
• Faced a few quality control issues, but resolved them same day or next clean
My focus areas this month:
• Onboarding 4 new recurring clients (1 a week)
• Delegating all cleaning-related tasks
• Hiring & training 1-2 new cleaners
• Tightening up SOPs (adding videos)
• Cold calling & emailing commercial prospects
Full steam ahead.
Todays todos:
• Supervise 2 new cleans
• Take 3 sales calls
• Implement new cleaning system
We hit a new high of 9 cleans for the week.
Just a month ago we had weeks with zero cleans.
No clever gimmicks or hacks. Just get the basics right every day.
It's been a busy couple weeks for the cleaning business.
My current focus areas:
• Slowly removing myself from the cleans
• Balancing between sales & operations
• Hiring experienced cleaners
• Celebrating small wins
Still very early in this journey, but the path is clear.
What I love about the home cleaning business:
1. Easy to grasp and execute
2. High retention & very low churn
3. Don't need much to differentiate
4. Extremely predictable business model
5. Few uncontrollable variables to stress about
All I need to do is show up.
3 months ago, I left my corporate tech career to start a home cleaning business.
Here's the numbers so far:
• Sep: $2.6k / 7 cleans
• Oct: $5k / 16 cleans
• Nov: $6.2k / 23 cleans
Hopeful & excited for December 🙏🏼
EOD recap:
✅ successful clean for new monthly client
✅ current clients migrated to bookingkoala
✅ all cleaners added on bookingkoala
I realized every improvement to the business came out of unexpected challenges.
I'm learning to embrace them instead of dreading them.
Monday todos:
• Supervise new client’s clean
• Follow up with leads from last week
• Add cleaners to booking koala
• Interview new cleaner
Let’s have a strong start to the week 💪🏼
In any business, acquiring your first customer asap should be your top priority.
Here's how I landed my first client in 2 weeks of launching my home cleaning business:
• Handed out flyers
• Cold called realtors
• Bought leads on bark
• Posted on local facebook groups
Take as much action as possible, cast a wide net, and don't stop until you get that first "yes".
The faster you can prove your fit in the market, the faster you can compound your experience & knowledge to the next level.
EOD recap:
• Closed a $457 move-in clean for Nov 28
• Imported all client data to booking koala
• Gave feedback on last clean to new cleaner
Another challenging yet positive week in the books.
Expecting nothing less for next week.
Saturday todos:
• Follow up with 2 new leads
• Start migrating client data from Jobber to Booking Koala
• Refine website copy with niched down msging
My theme of the week:
Sacrifice short term gains for long term success.
EOD recap:
• Supervised move-out clean with new cleaner
• Signed 5 new clients, 4 of them recurring
• Started setting up booking koala (will likely move on from jobber)
We're getting close to hitting $5k MRR from recurring clients.
Milestone #1 is within reach!
I signed 5 new clients today after not signing any the entire week.
4 became biweekly or monthly clients, adding $1.2k to my MRR.
Scratching my head about the sudden influx, but we'll take the win.
The emotional rollercoaster is real.
Friday todos:
• Train brand new cleaner
• Supervise move-out clean
• Play around with booking koala (I’m using Jobber)
I barely got any new leads this week. Need to find ways to broaden my reach.
Anyone have good results with google ads or posting on fb groups?
It's been 2 months since our first clean, and we just passed $10k in revenue.
Here's our snapshot so far:
• 24 clients
• 35 total cleans
• 46% recurring cleans
• $302 average clean price
Baby numbers, but we're moving in the right direction.
