It's not easy to sum up a life as big and meaningful as @DianeDeans'. But I offer a few reflections of my experience with the longtime councillor - who I sometimes disagreed with, but always respected and liked. ottawacitizen.com/opinion/ch… via @ottawacitizen #ottnews

Nice read from columnist @bdeachman : The Nelson Street Pub in Pembroke has started a program that allows folks to prepay for meals so the less fortunate can eat. A simple pay-it-forward idea that others should copy. #ottnews @OttawaCitizen ottawacitizen.com/opinion/de…

Biggest loss is the direct and indirect mentorship for new journos, especially those on internships/placements. How much we learned and absorbed early in our careers from simply sitting beside a veteran reporter.

In three decades of reporting, this remains one of the most devastating stories I've ever covered. Today is the 3rd anniversary of Mallory Morton-Rhéaume's death. I've never heard that Aqua song the same way again. ottawacitizen.com/news/local… via @ottawacitizen

Absolutely. And, obviously, soccer-baseball.
Ok this has been a podcast discussion with me and @DownGoesBrown. Did any other kid of the 80s/90s also play some variation of a game called “foot hockey” at recess? (But essentially it was just soccer with a tennis ball….but we called it ‘hockey’ for some reason)

For me, probably the most memorable moment of Steve K.'s time as city manager was this meeting.

You'll recall this performance, when Kanellakos said the LRT mess wasn't really anybody's fault but if anybody had to take responsibility, it was him: ottawacitizen.com/news/local…

I also remember the day he was named city manager. Everyone was wondering who would get the gig. Somehow the city snuck him into council chambers out of the public eye for a big reveal during a council meeting.
